THREE members of the Leicester team turn their attentions to the FIM Speedway of Nations this week at Belle Vue.
Club captain Max Fricke lines up for Australia, who took the title the last time this format operated two years ago.
He will team up with Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz at the National Speedway Stadium, with their first appearance coming in semi-final 2 on Wednesday.
Fricke said: “We have a pretty experienced team with Brady riding here week in and week out and Jack, who is on fire at the moment.
“He’s doing really well and he’s in a great position in the Speedway GP World Championship – he’s second in the standings.
“I think we understand the game and work well together on the day. Belle Vue will be a tough track to team ride on because it is so big and so open. But we will give it our best shot.
“We will be trying our best to pick up another title. The fans had been waiting for a long time – 20 years – when we did it in 2022. Hopefully they won’t have to wait that long again.”
Australia’s opposition on Wednesday includes the USA, who are represented by Watling JCB Lions rider Luke Becker, along with Broc Nicol and Gino Manzares.
They are all chasing three qualifying places for the Final on Saturday, where hosts Great Britain join the tournament.
Meanwhile British Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon, the Lions’ Rising Star, is named in the GB trio for SON2 on Friday – the Under-21 equivalent of the senior event.
Hagon will team up with captain Leon Flint and former Lions rider Dan Thompson as the young Lions go for gold in Manchester.
